Whoa.

I don't like to brag a WHOLE lot (ha, okay, it's my blog, I'm allowed to do what I want ;)) BUT....

THIS KID HAS LOST 16 POUNDS & 4% BODY FAT SINCE THE BEGINNING OF 2012!

Not that I'm excited or anything, right?!

Someone the other day asked me what my secret is. And you know what? Deep down that question bothered me.. a LOT. There is no secret. It's called hard work. One of my biggest pet peeves involves  people who try every trick in the book other than eating right and exercising to lose weight. Just do it. It'll make you a stronger person in the long run.. not to mention healthier too.

Off my soap box now.

But that being said, I've hit a bit of a rut. I've got about 10 more pounds and 4% more body fat I'd like to lose and that's where my goals for the summer really kick into place. And adding on to my exercise goal, I'm going to do this June Ab challenge. Why? Well.. why not?

Source

At first glance it looks pretty easy but jeeze.. just take a look at Day 30! Pretty excited to try this, not going to lie. My core is definitely something I'd like to improve upon over the summer. I'll keep you updated!

In other developments since we last spoke:

  • I went to the casino last weekend. I won $150. My roommate won $550. Bitch. ;)
  • Tonight I'm going to find out whether I'm going to be babysitting a niece or nephew in my very near future. (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I'm taking Peter to Louisville tomorrow to meet the rest of my crazy family. Oh and attend my cousin's (400 person) wedding. No big deal.
  • Speaking of Peter, I have less than a week left with him until August 20th. Blahhhhh. :(
  • My roommate and I might not be homeless after all! We (HOPEFULLY) found a place to live! Keep your fingers crossed!
  • 90s pandora station is good..... Jimmy Buffet pandora station is BETTER.
  • If we get the new place, I'm going to start biking to work! And clearly investing in a new seat pad. My ass HURTS from riding the past 2 days (TMI?)
  • Saturday night (after getting back from the casino!) I went with my two BFF's to see Legally Blonde: The Musical. Two thumbs up fo'sho!
  • And now a collection of instagrams from the weekend (I'm obsessed! follow me @sarahc33!)

Time to go! My future niece or nephew is awaiting! :)

Summer 2012: GOALS!

So, FYI--summer isn't nearly as fun when you're in the working world. Even so, I'm still pretttttty damn excited. Summer is my absolute FAVORITE time of the year. Hot weather, sunshine, BEACH TIME--it's all my 'ish. I'm totally going to be that old lady who moves to Florida for retirement. Just wait and see.

Moving on.

I decided that with my boyfriend being away for 2 1/2 months, my best friend moving out for grad school (ALL IN THE SAME WEEK! Yuck!), and my boot camp classes ending until September, I need something to focus on this summer. Hence the creation of a few goals/aspirations for this summer. I'll be the first to admit that I'm terrible at commitment (okay, maybe not on the boyfriend front ;)) and have a hard time keeping up with .... anything. BUT maybe if I make these public I MIGHT feel slightly inclined to work on them. ha.... ;)

So without further ado, my goals for SUMMER2K12.. read 'em and weep baby. ;)

1. Eat Healthy...er. I'll be the first to admit, I try my best to eat healthy. Really, I do. In fact, I dramatically changed my eating habits at the beginning of this year and lost 15 pounds! Not bad, right? But with the stress/craziness of the end of the semester, my old eating habits came back to bite me... HARD. I've not gained any weight back (whew!) but I'm definitely feeling sluggish and not at my best so I'm going to make a valiant effort to get back to eating more vegetables, fruits, etc. And.. as much as it pains me to do so, cut back on chocolate. Blah.

2. BE ACTIVE! My whole life is about being active so I don't foresee this as being a problem but I'm making it a goal nevertheless. I want to start biking to work when possible, working out 4-5 times a week (which I already do), walking more, etc. I hate sitting still so this will be good for me.. and keep me from driving my roommate crazy. ;)

Isn't this so true thought?!

3. Start half-marathon training. I have no choice here--September 23rd will be here before I know it! Training starts July 1... bring it. As hard as it's going to be, I'm surprisingly looking forward to it.

4. Be crafty. Ha. Now THIS one will be hard. I'm not crafty whatsoever. Not to mention I get terribly frustrated when projects take too long (my roommate refuses to let me help her put anything together.. ha). BUT I'd LIKE to be crafty so that counts for something, right? And plus, my office is way to plain. I need to spice it up a bit... feel me?

5. SAVE MONEY! I'm not going to lie, I'm actually pretty good at saving money. Working at a bank for 6 months after graduation was probably the best thing that ever happened to me. I learned how to make the most out of my money and saw WAAAAAY to many people who ran out of their own. But I want to save enough to go on a trip to the beach at the end of the summer with Peter, my roommate, and her boyfriend WITHOUT taking money out of my checking or savings account. Hello PB & bread. No shame in my game. ;)

There you have it. Sure, they're not particularly exciting but they work for me.

Do you have any goals this summer?

Ideal Weekend.

The countdown has officially begun. Only 2 full weeks left with Peter before he leaves for camp. I'm not a happy camper...ha. Get it?
I know he's only gone for a little over 2 months but I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of attached to the kid. And let's be honest, weekends like this past one don't make it much easier to say goodbye (or see you later).

He's officially educated! :)

I can't even begin to describe the amount of fun I had this weekend. My family + his family + friends = a good time. And for the record, his family is great. Better than great actually. I was so nervous to meet the rest of them but they're so similar to my family it was.. easy. Which I'd like to think is a good thing.

Peter and I were up extra early on Saturday--him to get ready to walk across the stage, me to schmooze with a bunch of pretty important people and pin the graduates. Have I mentioned that I absolutely LOVE graduation? It brought back flashbacks for me from last year! I remember decorating caps with Chiz & Anna, waking up early for our attempt at kegs & eggs (which ended up consisting of me taking two sips of beer just to say I did it), taking a million (and I mean a MILLION) pictures, walking across the stage, and having an awesome after party at my house. It was one of my favorite days, period, and it was fun to go through the same thing all over again--this time with the person I'm closest to.

But seriously--the weekend was amazing. As soon as graduation was over I packed up my cookie dough balls (uhhh AMAZING--will definitely be making them again!) and headed over to the "shack", aka Peter's place/my parents backyard, and spent the rest of the day chatting away, enjoying the sunshine, eating delicious food, and playing corn hole until my arms were sore. It was literally the perfect summer Saturday afternoon.

Later that night after the party died down a bit, one of Peter's fraternity brothers/one of my oldest college friends came over with his girlfriend. We sat on the porch of the shack and reminisced for 2 hours or so--we talked about the past, the future, how fast time flies, and the irony of it all. He was leaving on Sunday to move to Charlotte with the GF and who knows when we'll get to see him next. Homecoming? He came into school with me and one of our first weekends in college, we partied at my parents house while they were conveniently out of town so it was only appropriate that we ended at the same place we started.

As soon as they left, we pretty much passed out immediately.

Sunday was much of the same. Peter & I  generally try and find SOMETHING active to do but after debating for a good half hour on what we could get into, we both decided that a lazy day consisting of corn hole, ladder board, and laying by the pool best suited our needs.

In our defense however we did go to boot camp later that night and got a pretty decent ass kicking. He generally helps out with B.C. but decided to join in on the fun last night so it was fun to compete with him during the exercises. :) (I'm way too competitive for my own good!)

Afterward we settled into our "normal" nightly escapades--dinner and a movie. Peter still doesn't have cable so I'm pretttttty sure I've seen almost every DVD in the Redbox at the CVS down the street. Last night we settled on "The Rum Diaires" (?) with Johnny Depp. Ahh. Not bad, not particularly good either but it did the trick. We also grilled out on Peter's new graduation gifted grill (how's THAT for alliteration?) and ate on the deck. A pretty ideal Sunday if I do say so myself.

Guess I better not get to use to it, eh? Or I need to find a hobby to keep me busy on the weekends. Any suggestions?!

Needless to say, I was by no means ready for the weekend to end. But seeing this on the way home this morning certainly helped brighten my spirits for the upcoming week--

And plus I have a four day weekend to look forward to that involves a casino trip on Friday and Legally Blonde the musical on Saturday... not to mention a free day off on Monday for Memorial Day. I can dig it.

Have a great week!

Five Things Friday

First of all before I begin, let me start by saying...

This week hasn't been particularly long or trying for that matter but the weather?! It's been amazing and will continue to be amazing throughout the weekend. HELLO POOL.

Enough rambling, on to the "good" stuff. (ha)

1. Peter's Graduating tomorrow! I'm a very proud girlfriend fo' sho. He's not terribly excited about the actual "walking" part but I know that'll change come tomorrow. I absolutely LOVED my own graduation and hope he does the same. And plus, it's an excuse to CELEBRATE! I get to meet the rest of his family tomorrow too (minus his brother!).... uhhhhhh....... I'll let you know how it goes. I'm not nervous at all.............. -___-

2. O.M.GLEEEEEEEE. (that was probably the cheesiest thing I've ever written on this blog.. period.) I finally caught up on Glee (I was a few episodes behind!) and this week's episodes were freaking fantastic. Seriously. I may or may not have shed a tear. I'm totally wrecking my persona as a bad ass one word at a time.

3. Moving Sucks. And I haven't even started yet. In the past 6 years, I've moved 6 times. In and out of a dorm room 4 times, and in and out of an apartments twice. BLAHHHHH. My roommate and I are currently on the hunt for a new place since our third roommate totally decided to be selfish and go off to grad school and leave us behind. What a bitch. (KIDDING! :)) I'll keep you updated on the progress.

4. Elton John is coming within an hour of my hometown. Uhhh.... not to completely ruin my reputation but... umm.... I kind of LOVE Elton John. No shame in my game. I've been known to sing a mean "Bennie & the Jets" back in the day. I may have to fork over the dough for that one.

5. 90's Pandora still completely rocks my world. Don't hate. I've officially declared today as "Throwback Friday" and will proceed to listen to 90s music until my ears are bleeding and I no longer fantasize about marrying Justin Timberlake in his *nsync heyday. Not weird at all.

Alright kids. Have a great weekend!

Time Flies.

A year ago yesterday Peter & I started "talking". It doesn't seem like it's been that long. We'd been flirting back and forth for a while up until that point but finally the day after graduation I confessed that yes, I did in fact like him. And he's never let me live it down since. ;)

I'ts funny how things happen. I never thought that we'd be where we are today to be honest. Not because I didn't think I liked him that much but because I've never really been the relationship type. I think I even told him that at one point. But I stepped out of my comfort zone with Peter and it just.... worked. There's really no other way to explain it.

We continued "talking" for 3 months before we actually started our relationship. Not because we weren't ready but because Peter goes to camp every summer (counselor) so it kind of made it difficult. But in the end, I think that's really what helped us the most. We texted each other every chance we got and really got to know the other person before we just jumped right into something we weren't ready for. He helped me make it through those days when I really, REALLY hated the bank and I like to think I helped him make it through his day as well.

I'm not really sure what the point of this post is. To be honest, I always hated those people who flaunted their relationships on facebook and now look at me. But I guess what I'm saying is that stepping out of my comfort zone ended up being one of the best decisions I've made in the past year. Ok... and maybe that Peter is getting ready to  leave for camp again this summer and I'm starting to really dread it.

Is it August yet?
